MOREHEAD—Seeking to give the state’s best and brightest another educational option, a new school is looking to use the model of a successful statewide magnet school to attract students from other regions of the state — particularly the east. Legislation that resulted as a product of questions about the processes and jurisdiction of the Legislative Ethics Commission failed to pass in the 2014 session but will be filed again for 2015, according to Rep. Andy Barr continues to enjoy a significant cash advantage over his likely Democratic opponent, Elisabeth Jensen, raising more than $77,000 in April. Barr, in his first term representing Central Kentucky's 6th Congressional District, has more than $1.1 million in cash on hand, but his campaign spent more than $63,000 of its April haul on fundraising and mail pieces. Despite those April expenditures, Barr is far outpacing Jensen, who raised more than $23,000 in April while spending more than $64,000 in the same period.
