Lawmakers delay action on head of Kentucky Horse Park's contract after questions raised about salary increase

FRANKFORT — The Government Contract Review Committee deferred action on newly appointed Kentucky Horse Park Executive Director Jamie Link’s contract after a review by the Personnel Cabinet on Tuesday, citing concerns with Link’s salary compared to the former director and his pay in Gov. Steve Beshear’s administration. The committee voted 5-0, with Rep. Jesse Crenshaw, D-Lexington, voting “pass,” on the delay until its Jan. 13 meeting. FRANKFORT — Senate Republican leaders released committee assignments for their caucus on Monday, naming a GOP candidate for lieutenant governor chairman of the powerful Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee. Sen. Chris McDaniel, a Taylor Mill Republican who’s on a gubernatorial ticket with Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, said he was “honored” and “thrilled” to have the trust of his caucus to chair the Senate’s budget committee. Some familiar bills to reappear for 2015 legislative session

The 2015 legislative session could be the session of bills getting second and third tries, according to lawmakers at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce legislative preview Monday. One bill, which both Republicans and Democrats say is a priority in 2015, is legislation to combat the heroin epidemic which is affecting a growing number of areas in the state.
