A group supporting Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway’s early childhood education platform will begin airing a pair of 60-second television ads in Louisville and Lexington media markets. The People’s Campaign, which raised $16,500 from Sept. 3 through Oct. 2, according to its 32-day pre-election campaign finance report, tagged state Sen. Reginald Thomas and Rep. FRANKFORT — Members of the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System Funding Work Group met Friday to hear multiple options and delve into subtle tweaks to new teacher’s pension plans, and one major option for digging out of debt. CLERMONT – The Kentucky Distillers Association will seek a number of legislative remedies aimed to boost tourism in the state’s bourbon industry, officials told lawmakers Thursday. The association presented its legislative wish-list ahead of next year’s session during a joint meeting of the interim joint committees on labor and industry and economic development and tourism at the Jim Beam American Stillhouse. With Election Day drawing near, one gubernatorial candidate is starting to pour even more money into the television ad time. According to an analysis by The Center for Public Integrity, Democratic candidate Jack Conway has spent $2.5 million to air more than 7,000 television advertisements. Conway is not only outspending his Republican opponent Matt Bevin, who has spent $1.3 million to air 4,500 campaign ads, he is also significantly increasing how much he is spending going into the homestretch.... Read more

UPDATED: The Republican Party of Kentucky has filed a complaint against Democratic agriculture commissioner candidate Jean Marie Lawson Spann alleging the candidate’s radio program and corporate sponsorship constitutes a non-reported campaign donation. Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway says he hopes the next two gubernatorial debates feature questions on the Affordable Care Act, but he will not accept his opponent’s invitation for a forum focused solely on the topic. FRANKFORT — Gov. Steve Beshear and Adjutant Gen. Edward Tonini cut the ribbon on a state-of-the-art Kentucky National Guard Army Aviation facility in Frankfort on Wednesday. The 126,000-square-foot facility, which comes at a $25 million price tag, provides an enclosure for a new fleet of UH-60 Blackhawk and LUH-72 helicopters. FRANKFORT — A group of eastern Kentucky pastors met with key staffers in Gov. Steve Beshear’s administration on Tuesday, urging a special session to accommodate religious objections to same-sex marriage licensing. New computer program will streamline application process for community-based services

FRANKFORT – Families who apply for community-based services such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP), Kentucky Works Program (KWP), Family Alternatives Diversion (FAD) Program, and the Medicaid programs will find a more simplified process thanks to a new computer system which is being implemented by the Division of Family Support.
