Spending more taxpayer dollars on mailing in his first term in office than most other members of Congress, Kentucky U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, says he will not apologize for communicating with his constituents and defends his office’s fiscal record of cutting other wasteful spending. Barr’s use of franked communications, where members of Congress use their signature as postage on mail, has totaled a $190,000 in taxpayer money to send mail and conduct other constituent services during his first term in... LOUISVILLE — Democratic Louisville Metro Councilwoman, Attica Scott, says the conversations on race and the American justice system around the country need to be happening and people like U.S. Sen. As unrest in Ferguson continues and many lawmakers discuss the possible need for legislation to demilitarize the police forces, Kentucky U.S. Rep. Andy Barr says the federal government needs to make sure they are not hurting businesses selling that type of equipment in the process. Kentucky’s Democratic and Republican parties entered an allegation fray on Friday calling for investigations into the U.S. Senate candidates. The Republican Party of Kentucky filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging Grimes violated campaign finance laws by accepting a 45-foot bus from Signature Special Event Services, Grimes’ father’s company, below fair market rates.
