Massie says redacted pages from 9/11 report could change opinions on foreign policy

After reviewing redacted pages from the official Congressional inquiry into the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R – Vanceburg, says the pages could change opinions about the role of the United States in middle eastern conflicts. Describing the pages as “very profound,” Massie along with several other Congressmen are urging President Obama to declassify the pages, and provide more information to the public. Comer pulls $250,000 in first 'spontaneous' fundraiser in campaign

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner James Comer’s campaign received about $250,000 in his first fundraiser as a Republican gubernatorial candidate, Comer told Pure Politics in a phone interview Wednesday. Comer, who launched his campaign Tuesday in Tompkinsville, Ky., held a fundraiser at the Glasgow Country Club that day with about 200 donors present, he said. Coursey attorney seeks sanction over 'smut' depositions

FRANKFORT — An attorney for Rep. Will Coursey has asked a judge to sanction the lawyer representing a Legislative Research Commission staffer suing Coursey for retaliation after releasing “the smut” contained in the Symsonia Democrat’s depositions earlier this year. William Johnson, a Frankfort attorney representing Coursey, said in a motion filed in Franklin Circuit Court that Thomas Clay, a Louisville attorney representing legislative secretary Nicole Cusic, asked Coursey “embarrassing and non-relevant questions about other persons.” Coursey’s depositions later appeared on the... Read more

By Jack Brammer jbrammer@herald-leader.com FRANKFORT – The state’s General Fund, which pays for most state programs, improved in August while the state Road Fund dipped ever so slightly. State budget director Jane C. Driskell said Wednesday that General Fund receipts increased 1.2 percent in August compared to the same month last year. Total revenues for the month were $671.9 million, compared to $663.7 million during August 2013. So far this fiscal year 2015 that began July 1, General Fund receipts have increased 1.7 percent. The official revenue estimate for the fiscal year calls for revenue to increase 3.6 percent compared to last year’s actual [...]
