UPDATED WITH LETTER TO ATTORNEY GENERAL: The Republican and Democratic parties in the state are targeting voters before Election Day through letters addressed to voters to give them information before they head to their polling place Tuesday. State Rep. Suzanne Miles, R-Owensboro, has taken off the gloves in her tough re-election race, releasing back-to-back negative ads about her Democratic opponent John Warren on allegations of domestic violence in his past and an alcohol related arrest. On Thursday, Miles released an ad showing a mugshot of Warren alongside documents that show allegations of domestic violence by the Democratic candidate’s then-wife. McConnell leads Grimes by 5 in latest Bluegrass Poll

Kentucky U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell has widened his lead on Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes five days from Election Day, according to the results of the latest Bluegrass Poll released late Thursday. The poll, conducted by SurveyUSA for The Courier-Journal, The Lexington Herald-Leader, WHAS-TV and WKYT-TV with a 4.1 percent margin of error, shows McConnell grabbing 48 percent support from 597 likely voters surveyed this week compared to 43 percent backing Grimes.
