Mitch McConnell may fulfill a campaign promise hours after handily winning reelection against Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes as he looks poised to become the next majority leader of the U.S. Senate. 9:50 p.m. — All congressional incumbents cruised to victory Tuesday night, posting sizable double-digit wins in races that have been called early. U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Lexington, had the closest race, beating Democrat Elisabeth Jensen by 20 points. U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Louisville, was the next closest, with a 28-point win over Republican Michael Macfarlane. U.S. Rep. The Attorney General’s Election Fraud Hotline has received 133 calls from 37 counties, handling questions from vote buying to electioneering within 300 feet of polls in a number of counties as the polling places near 6 p.m. closing times. While Tuesday night in Kentucky belonged to U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul found some takeaways that could point to his 2016 presidential race ambitions. Johnny Bell Holds Off Jeff Jobe's Challenge

State Rep. Johnny Bell will remain in Frankfort for another term.
The incumbent Democrat from Glasgow defeated Republican challenger Jeff Jobe, also of Glasgow, by more than 1,000 votes Tuesday, carrying most, if not all, precincts in the 23rd District, which covers all of Barren County and a single precinct in Warren County.

Mitch McConnell will get his wish.

His unprecedented election to a sixth term in the U.S. Senate, combined with Republican victories in other states that netted enough new seats to take control of that Senate, will make McConnell the new majority leader.

Majority Stays With House Democrats

FRANKFORT Despite Mitch McConnell’s success in tying his opponent Alison Lundergan Grimes to Barack Obama and his easy win, neither the Obama tactic nor McConnell’s coattails helped the Republican effort to take over the majority of the state House of Representatives.
In fact, while some key races remained in doubt as of press time, it appeared Democrats will maintain their current 54-46 majority in the House by taking away three Republican seats while the GOP managed only two takeaways.

Richards Wins Another Term

Rep. Jody Richards, D-Bowling Green, has won another term in the state House of Representatives.
Richards received a little more than 63 percent of the vote in today's election. He received 6,237 compared to 3,610 votes cast for his opponent Republican Jenean M. Hampton, according to unofficial vote totals.
