Calm night in Somerset follows rough-and-tumble week in GOP gubernatorial politics
05/10/2015 09:37 AM
SOMERSET — Saturday proved relatively quiet for statewide candidates at the Pulaski County Republican Party’s “meet the candidates” event. After a whirlwind week in Kentucky’s soap-opera-style Republican gubernatorial primary, that was a reprieve from allegations of physical and mental abuse dating back more than two decades against Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, whose accuser was previously identified in a Tumblr page dedicated to anti-Comer material. Comer has denied claims made by the woman, Marilyn Thomas, who also accused him of driving her... Read more

05/08/2015 03:13 PM

The New York Times first reported the story as Paul’s super PAC takes shape under John Tate and Jesse Benton. Bayens will leave Paul’s official office May 15, and then he will begin independently coordinating with Republican groups including Paul’s Liberty PAC, which will be active in the presidential race and Paul’s re-election campaign in Kentucky.... A Look at Kentucky Gubernatorial Candidate Comer’s Climate Change Remarks and Agriculture
from Erica Peterson
from Erica Peterson
Kentucky’s Republican gubernatorial candidates disagree specifically on what evidence proves that, according to them, climate change isn’t happening or influenced by human activity. I’m the one person whose business and livelihood depends on Mother Nature, so I understand weather patterns,” he said, citing his farming experience. “We’ve had a very severe winter [...]

In the world of American theater, Louisville is known for being the birthplace of new plays, with several premieres each spring during the Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville. But what happens to those new plays—and those that are premiered every year around the country—after that first production? Many are never seen again. But a growing movement of small theatre companies, including Louisville’s own Theatre [502], is focusing on bringing “nearly-new” plays to regional audiences. Theatre [502] was created by three Louisville theatre-makers who all have connections to other companies in the city, including StageOne Family Theatre, Kentucky Shakespeare, and Actors Theatre.
