FANCY FARM — Democratic attorney general candidate Andy Beshear and Republican candidate Whitney Westerfield traded barbs face-to-face on Saturday with both referencing cosmetic treatments to feet and toes. The reference dates back to a 2007 personnel report first detailed by Pure Politics in mid-July. U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell is warning President Barack Obama and top officials negotiating the 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership to ensure the tobacco industry is not negativity impacted in the trade deal. On Thursday, the Senate majority leader sent a letter to Ambassador Michael Froman, the top trade representative of the Obama administration, calling on tobacco to be protected in the massive trade deal that some say is close to wrapping up. Attorney General Jack Conway holds a slim, 3-point lead on Republican Matt Bevin in a head-to-head contest in the latest Bluegrass Poll of Kentucky’s gubernatorial election conducted by SurveyUSA. Ryan Quarles, R-Georgetown, is organizing his supporters in an effort to fight back against a potentially bad deal for Kentucky farmers being negotiated on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact and help him become the next agriculture commissioner. FANCY FARM — This Saturday marks the unofficial kickoff to the political season as one of Kentucky’s oldest political traditions, Fancy Farm takes place. The Outskirts Festival, which seeks to highlight female-led or female-driven bands, has announced the lineup for its second year. The festival happens the weekend of Oct. 9-11 and will include a return to Louisville of the band Freakwater. The shows are open to all ages, and venues include the New Vintage Showcase and Art Sanctuary.
