Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin is injecting controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood into this year’s campaign, pledging to halt federal Title X dollars from reaching the group’s Kentucky branches. Planned Parenthood has been the subject of a series of undercover videos published by the anti-abortion group Center for Medical Progress, representatives of which posed as medical researchers interested in obtaining fetal organs and tissue. FRANKFORT – The 15-foot marble rendering of Confederate President Jefferson Davis will remain in the Capitol Rotunda but with a greater emphasis on the historical context on his and others’ statues, the Kentucky Historic Properties Advisory Commission decided in a special meeting Wednesday. UPDATED: Jesse Benton and two other former Ron Paul campaign staffers have been indicted on corruption charges. The allegations date back to a bribery scandal of former Iowa state Sen. Kent Sorenson, who pleaded guilty to receiving thousands for switching his support from Michelle Bachmann to Ron Paul in the early primary state’s 2012 presidential election. FAIRVIEW — Attendance at the Jefferson Davis Historic Site in Fairview, Kentucky has spiked as state politicians have discussed relocating a 15-foot marble statue of the President of the Confederacy from the state Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort. A Kentucky county clerk who refuses to give couples marriage licenses has sued Gov. Steve Beshear, claiming he is obligated to create a policy for issuing the documents that upholds her religious rights. Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis stopped issuing marriage licenses in June after the Supreme Court lifted same-sex marriage bans throughout the U.S. Four Rowan County couples that were denied marriage licenses sued Davis, seeking to compel her to issue the documents.
