Pro-Matt Bevin super PAC releases online ad with focus on coal

With a two minute long web video Fight For Kentucky super PAC joins a line of outside groups and candidates with a message on coal. The super PAC is backing Republican candidate for governor Matt Bevin in the race, and they’re seeking to put the efforts of the Obama administration to move away from the fuel into contrast in the election. Florida Gov. Rick Scott travels 643 miles to gloat over 40 poached Kentucky jobs

LEXINGTON — Gov. Rick Scott, R-Florida, traveled all the way from Tallahassee, Fla., to Lexington on Tuesday to tell gathered media that he’d successfully enticed 40 jobs to the sunshine state. The announcement was sold to Kentucky media by Scott as a “choice” to either expand in the commonwealth or in Florida. Lawmakers look to find ways to better protect state troopers after Ponder tragedy

FRANKFORT – The Father of slain Kentucky State Police trooper Cameron Ponder said that if his sons cruiser had special bullet resistant windows, he could possibly still be alive. Joseph Ponder made the statement on Tuesday in Frankfort as House Speaker Greg Stumbo, D-Prestonsburg, announced that he has requested that Kentucky State Police Commissioner Rodney Brewer come up with recommendations of how to make front line troopers safer out in the field. Ky. will allow online voter registration, possibly by next year, Sec. of State Alison Grimes announces

Kentuckians will be able to register to vote online, possibly in time for the next presidential election, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced Tuesday. Standing outside the League of Women Voters’ Louisville office, Grimes touted the “transformational change” as a way to generate more registered voters in the state. Grimes said funds for the project are available through the federal Help America Vote Act, and her office estimated the program’s cost at $45,000. Candidates for attorney general promise action on untested sexual assault kits in Ky.

Candidates for attorney general are promising significant action on a backlog of 3,090 untested sexual assault evidence kits in Kentucky. The backlog of untested rape kits was released as part of an audit conducted by Adam Edelen, which was released on Monday. Edelen’s investigation found “breakdowns at every step of the process, from the time a victim presents to a hospital to undergo an exam, to the failure of law enforcement to submit kits for testing and long delays... Read more 
Daniel Kish has hiked through some challenging terrain, including the Swiss Alps and the canyons of his native California. Kish, 49, is also an avid camper and cyclist, runs a non-profit organization and keeps a busy speaking schedule. State Auditor Adam Edelen says he’s looking into the financial management of the University of Louisville Foundation, which manages the university’s $1.1 billion endowment, and the university’s board of trustees as part of an ongoing investigation. Edelen originally said his office would focus on “governance and oversight” of the organizations, which have been under fire for hefty salary and deferred compensation packages awarded to U of L President James Ramsey and other top school officials.
