LOUISVILLE — In their second joint appearance of the general election candidates for lt. governor met for a televised debate where recent hot button topics took center stage. Sannie Overly, the Democratic running mate of Jack Conway, and Jenean Hampton, the Republican running mate of Matt Bevin, met before a live studio audience in Louisville for the half-hour long discussion held at WAVE-3 TV with support from nine women’s groups. $240 million needed to maintain and upgrade Kentucky's state parks

ROUGH RIVER DAM STATE PARK — Kentucky State Park officials say as much as $240 million is needed to maintain and upgrade aging state park facilities in the next 6-year budget cycle in 2016. With House Speaker John Boehner stepping down some members of the GOP are calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to do the same. On Saturday Roger Villere, the chairman of the Louisiana GOP used a Facebook post to push for McConnell to hand in his resignation. Villere posted this article from The Hill and said “McConnell needs to Resign!!” Then in an interview with the Washington Times , Villere said that McConnell is hurting the Republican Party.... Read more 
The Republican Governors Association’s decision to stop airing ads for Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Matt Bevin may fuel perceptions that his campaign is struggling about a month before Election Day, a political observer says. The political action committee’s move on Monday came two days before the release of a much-anticipated Bluegrass Poll. This summer, the Bluegrass Poll showed Democrat Jack Conway with a slight lead over Bevin. RGA spokesman Jon Thompson would not comment on why the group stopped airing ads. The two major party candidates for lieutenant governor on Monday addressed the two-year controversy over sexual harassment in the Kentucky Statehouse. During a televised debate, Democratic candidate Sannie Overly criticized the culture in the state Capitol, and Republican candidate Janean Hampton questioned Overly’s leadership and transparency on the issue. Overly didn’t directly respond to a question about why she moved to seal her deposition in a 2013 sexual harassment lawsuit, but instead talked about the need to address sexual harassment in the Statehouse. Louisville officials want to hear from developers and housing stakeholders as they craft the details of a $12 million affordable housing initiative launched earlier this year. The Louisville CARES program looks to create 1,500 affordable housing units within two years, Mayor Greg Fischer said during the May announcement.
