State tax receipts tepid in September, first quarter overall

Kentucky’s General Fund tax receipts rose just 0.1 percent this month compared to September last year, giving the state’s revenue stream 1.1 percent grown in the first quarter of fiscal year 2015, State Budget Director Jane Driskell announced Friday. General Fund receipts totaled $920.6 million in September, up slightly from the $920.1 million in September 2013. Driskell said in the release that the General Fund’s receipts have slowed in the first three months of fiscal year 2015. The fund’s receipts must grow... Read more 

Jensen suffers major campaign setback as several staffers, including campaign manager, split ways

UPDATED 3:20 p.m.: Two of three campaign staffers say Democratic 6th Congressional District candidate Elisabeth Jensen fired them and that they did not walk out on the campaign “amicably” as previously stated. Melanie McCormick, the campaign’s former finance director, and Gracey Wise, the campaign’s former field and political director, issued a statement to Pure Politics seeking to clarify prior statements from the Jensen campaign. “We’d like to set the record straight. Hillary Clinton to stump for Grimes next week in Louisville

More than two months after her husband campaigned with U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in eastern Kentucky, Hillary Clinton is scheduled to appear in Louisville for the Democratic hopeful. Grimes’ campaign announced Friday that Clinton, a former secretary of state and U.S. Senator from New York who is mulling a presidential bid in 2016, will headline an event at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville 7 p.m. Wednesday.
