After a plane crash in the Russian rebel-controlled region of the Ukraine killing nearly 300 people, U.S. lawmakers—including members of Kentucky’s federal delegation—are looking to find a solution to the conflict in the region. The Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary Lori Flanery said she “understands the issues and concerns” raised by a legislative panel earlier this month and directed a state agency to cancel the contract with Seven Counties Services within 100 days. Eleven days ago the Government Contract Review committee voted not to approve a $3.7 million two-year contract for Seven Counties Services to provide in-home family services to 300 families through the Health Cabinet’s Department of Community Based Services. Kentuckians continue to play a starring role in the campaign ads of Kentucky U.S. Senate candidates as each campaign released new ads Friday. Kentucky U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell released a minute long commerical Friday morning touting his record on coal with the help of coal industry employees.
