Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is focusing her latest question ad on U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell’s 2013 vote against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act — a familiar line in the campaign for Grimes. The latest television ad comes in a series of question posed by Kentuckians to McConnell which toes the line on attacking McConnell’s negatives while remaining folksy. Retiring Rep. Ben Waide indicted for alleged violations of campaign finance laws

Retiring Rep. Ben Waide, R-Madisonville, was indicted Tuesday by Attorney General Jack Conway for alleged violations of Kentucky campaign finance laws during his 2010 re-election campaign. Waide was indicted on two counts of “knowingly accepting contributions from a corporation,” and “causing funds in his campaign account to be expended for purposes that were not allowable campaign expenditures” which are Class D Felonies. Each count carries with it a penalty of one to five years in prison and up to a $10,000... Read more

With what has been described as a “humanitarian crisis” continuing at the Southern border, Congress is down to the final days of session to come to an agreement on the problem before a one-month recess, and U.S. Rep. Rep. Tom McKee, D-Cynthiana, could be in for a strenuous re-election challenge. The district has changed through redistricting and is now comprised of Pendelton, Harrison and part of Scott Counties and McKee is facing a tough opponent in Falmouth Mayor Mark Hart, who also is a firefighter and paramedic. McConnell "encouraged" by compromise deal overhauling the V.A.

Congress could be very close to passing $17 billion in reforms to the Department of Veterans Affairs which U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell said he hoped could be accomplished quickly. The proposed legislation which was unveiled on Monday will give the secretary of the V.A. the authority to fire or demote senior officials, and it will offer veterans the ability to seek outside health treatment if V.A. doctors delay more than two-weeks, according to Politico . The Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority unanimously voted to give preliminary approval for tax incentives for a $73 million first phase of the biblical theme park.
