Two political newcomers are battling for the right to represent the 24th Senate District and take on the resurgence of heroin which has deeply effected the northern Kentucky area. In May Republican Wil Schroder III, the assistant commonwealth attorney in Campbell County, won a three-way primary in Campbell, Pendleton and Braken counties in his bid to succeed longtime Sen. Former President Bill Clinton will return to Kentucky on Wednesday, August 6, for a campaign rally with Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes in Eastern Kentucky. This is Clinton’s second planned trip to campaign for Grimes in the 2014 U.S. Senate race against Republican U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell. COVINGTON – U.S. Senator Rand Paul told members of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce on Friday that he is hopeful that legislation which would lower the tax on foreign corporate profits for U. S. corporations might have chance of passing, just not right now. The bill would allow companies like Apple to bring profits back to the United States at reduced tax rate.
