Members of the Republican Party of Kentucky’s Executive Committee gave their approval to move forward with a potential presidential caucus at a special meeting held in Bowling Green on Saturday. The move reported by The Lexington Hearld-Leader among others, comes at the request of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky who is exploring a bid for the White House and re-election to the Senate seat. The Louisville Orchestra has added new elements to a 75-year-old program offered this year to thousands of Louisville area students. Through the MakingMUSIC program, music director Teddy Abrams, 27, will visit schools, while playing and conducting concerts. The Kentucky Republican Party appears ready to change the way it nominates presidential candidates—something that would help Sen. Rand Paul run for the White House and Senate in 2016. The executive committee of the state party gave preliminary approval Saturday to Paul’s request to hold a presidential caucus next year, instead of a primary election. A formal decision on the move will come in August. State law prohibits a candidate from appearing for more than one office on the same ballot.
